Electrical switchgear operates with high voltages of electricity passing through them constantly, the electricity can be thrown out of the switchgear and be harmful to people. Special matting is available to be placed ender and at the foot of the equipment. Rubber is a deterrent for electricity; it does not conduct it and is therefore a protective measure against electricity.
